Full-time, salaried position.    

Primary Job Summary 

Responsible for all aspects of the rental and used equipment departments with a specific focus on fleet management in terms of procuring, utilizing, managing costs and retiring assets.  This will include balancing the fleet utilizing new, off-lease and trade-in equipment.  The Asset Manager will consistently analyze the rental fleet in relation to the Raymond truck population in Werres' service territory to adequately respond to our customers’ short-term and long-term rental requirements and used equipment needs. 

Primary Job Responsibilities 

  • Perpetual fleet analysis - utilization, depreciation, capital expenditures, maintenance costs and the development of an over-arching strategy for growth and profitability, while being mindful of market and economic conditions.
  • Drive top tier customer service within department, including hyper focus on sense of urgency.
  • Monitor rental rates and internal discounting in comparison to market conditions and adjust accordingly.
  • Market assets to our sales force, other Raymond dealers and wholesalers, where applicable.
  • Understand customer base and changing needs.
  • Strive to increase business with new and existing accounts by recruiting rentals from competitive accounts.
  • Regularly communicate rental activity to the appropriate sales and service members.
  • Ensure current technology of rental assets is up to date.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Rental and Renewed Managers/Departments.
  • Continually review and refine proposal/quoting process and coordinate with department managers as applicable.
  • Work with Used Equipment (Renewed) Manager and sales representatives to evaluate used equipment for trade-in and sale.
  • Evaluate customer fleet expenditures to identify economical advantages of rental assets vs. continuing to maintain older and less productive equipment.
  • Develop a competitive long-term rental and usage program to complement our CFPM and lease offerings.

Other Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Work with Parts Department, Service and Sales to develop promotional programs relating to rental and used equipment activity.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable in resolving collection of delinquent Rental and Used Equipment (Renew) department accounts, as requested.
  • Participate in Raymond sponsored Rental / Used Equipment Manager meetings.
  • Network with other Raymond dealers to ascertain best practices pertaining to rental / used equipment.

Skills/ Abilities / Personal Characteristics 

  • Must have high level understanding of financial concepts of rental assets, equipment sales and leasing.
  • Knowledge of products and services, including mechanical aspects of equipment.
  • Knowledge of personal computers with extensive knowledge of data management tools, such as excel.
  • Operational proficiency of all types of rental equipment provided to customer base.
  • Able to read and understand specifications of equipment sold and serviced by the company.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills along with a pleasant demeanor and telephone voice.
  • Ability to recognize and draw upon available support resources from within the company and the greater Raymond organization.
  • Ability to foster good internal working relationships across all Werres departments. 

Required Education / Experience 

  • Minimum requirement: 4-year degree or high school diploma and 5+ year experience in fleet management, rental, used equipment, wholesale or other applicable fields.
  • Continuing education or experience to assure excellent overall understanding asset and fleet management.
  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience, including the management of managers and other levels of employees
