The Raymond Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) team works on new battery, charger, and energy systems technologies. We support development of new products and services in these areas. The ESS team is part of an evolving and rapidly growing business unit.

 

About the position:

The Energy Systems Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the verification and validation of electrical power sources.  Successful applicants will develop and support innovative ways for evaluating lithium-ion and fuel cell designs to confirm they meet system level requirements.  The candidate will work with software, electrical and mechanical resources to identify issues, diagnose root causes and implement design fixes and improvements.  This individual will be the point of contact for multiple projects and must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in an evolving and dynamic environment. You will:

  • Provide support for new product development teams. 
  • Works with cross-functional groups. 
  • Create battery and charger architecture plans
  • Design and develop various components and sub-systems in support of efficient and robust simulated verification test development. Development may include electrical, software, and/or controls tasks.
  • Develop and evaluate requirements for software interface solutions and customizations between systems which may include battery management systems, vehicle controllers and charger communication
  • Creates test plans, templates, and strategies for multiple test flows – unit tests, functional tests, and hardware in-/out-of-loop tests – and ensures test results are documented and submitted.
  • Support coordination with internal and external testing to document and validate compliance to requirements and industry standards.
  • Complete testing of batteries on our NHR cycler systems
  • Support coordination with internal and external testing to document and validate compliance to requirements and industry standards.
  • Support UL system evaluations and qualification testing

 

About you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree systems, mechanical, electrical or energy engineering.
  • 5+ years of technical experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Lithium-Ion Battery Systems, including their control systems and operational characteristics.
  • Knowledge of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Systems and operational characteristics.
  • Experience in development of battery, charger, fuel cells, ESS, or related fields
  • Experience with testing and creating automated methods for testing electrical systems and components.
  • Basic understanding of network and communications technology – CAN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, UWB, Bluetooth, etc.
  • Proficient user of Matlab/Simulink
  • Knowledge of interface development with electric power systems and the control parameters applicable for an industrial application
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize and carry out technical activities
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Has the ability to present technical material to diverse audiences.

  • Experience programming in MATLAB/Python/C
  • Creation of testing and qualification plans for mobile equipment

About the total compensation package: 

 

Salary - $94,000 - $120,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Relocation – This position may qualify for relocation.
